Magnox awarded Gow’s the contract to supply materials, manufacture and deliver 590 QTY encapsulation drums to the Trawsfyndd and Hunterston sites.
GLL’s carried out inspection as per Magnox’s requirements:
- Full Assembly including Gaskets
- NDT (MPI Inspection) pre load test
- Load testing
- NDT (MPI Inspection) post load test
- Vacuum Testing
- Dimensional Inspection using Geometric
- Dimensioning and Tolerancing
Gow’s manufactured and delivered a solution that met Magnox’s requirements and specifications.
Scope of Project
- Production and submission of preliminaries (QC ITP, welding / NDT / load test procedures) for client approval
- Procurement of materials and manufacturing consumables
- Manufacture 590 QTY Drums as per drawings and specifications supplied
- Carry out NDT, load testing & vacuum testing as per clients’ specifications
- Apply individual identification to each drum
- Safe packaging & delivery to clients specified delivery locations (Hunterston & Trawsfyndd)
- Production and delivery of handover documentation

- Materials to BS EN10204 (2004) 3.1 or 3.2
- Weld procedures to BE EN ISO 15607 2003 or equivalent
