On a number of occasions, Gow’s Lybster has assisted Osprey Shipping for the provision of hot work services for towheads at the port of Wick. The towheads are large structures used for offshore oil and gas work and without custom design for sea fastenings it would not be possible to transport them by barge and tug to Wick Harbour. The sea fastenings themselves are large steel structures welded on to the deck to prevent cargo shift during sea passage. Wick signifies the last stage of marine transport for the towheads and a large amount of work is then needed to clean off the deck of the barge to remove all the sea fastenings and prepare the barge for departure. The trained and skilled welders, burners and grinders from Gow’s Lybster allow the barge to be quickly and safely put back to sea and helping reduce overall project costs”
Gow’s Lybster are the principle contractor for the redevelopment of oil production and processing facilities at out Lybster well site. We will continue to use Gow’s in a maintenance support role during production.
After commissioning the new installation of our Biomass CHP Energy Centre we found several shortcomings in works carried out by major contractors at that time and took the decision to rectify these failures with a Local Company that we felt would give us the service and attendance that our 24/7 operation required. We are only too delighted to reveal that our choice of Gow’s Lybster to carry out these works was the right one and from that point onwards we have built up a great relationship with the Company and its staff who understand our plant and the attention to detail that allows us to provide a continuous supply of quality steam for the Pulteney Distillery Whisky Distilling process along with heating for the General Hospital in Wick and also heating 200 homes from our District Heating network.
Many thanks to all the team at Gow’s Lybster and long may our continued relationship prosper.
